Bird Cherry Bohdan Khmelnytsky

Genetic Profile and Adaptability

The 'Bohdan Khmelnytskyi' cultivar is a specialized breeding achievement by the M.M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine, engineered for urban landscaping. Technologically, this is a mid-sized plant (2–4 m) exhibiting significant physiological resistance to moisture deficit. The key feature of its genotype is the ability to maintain decorative turgor even during prolonged dry spells, making it a critical choice for regions with high climate variability.

Agrotechnical Requirements and Performance

To ensure optimal flowering performance, specific management protocols must be followed:

• Soil Substrate: The cultivar is highly demanding regarding soil fertility. Plant metabolic performance is directly correlated with humus content and the bioavailability of macronutrients within the rhizosphere zone.
• Water Management: Despite its established drought resistance, sustained vegetative growth to achieve the 2–4 meter height requires consistent irrigation, particularly during the initial establishment phase.
• Crown Architecture: The mid-sized structure facilitates versatile use in both mass planting and as a specimen tree. Its natural symmetry requires minimal intervention in skeletal branch formation.

Investing in this cultivar integrates a robust domestic breeding solution into professional landscaping, combining the aesthetic value of decorative flowering with high resilience against environmental stressors.
