Shelling beans of the variety "GOLDEN-LOCK" are a high-yielding and mid-season asparagus type with climbing plants reaching a height of 2-2.5 meters, which requires the installation of supports. The plants are voluminous and decorative, ideal for shading gazebos and verandas. The beans are yellow, 20-22 cm long, juicy and tender, do not contain hard fibers or periderm, making them particularly pleasant to eat. The seeds are large and beige, densely filling the pod; young beans are used whole, including the seeds, in home cooking and canning.
The variety is characterized by good yield, especially when grown on irrigation, reaching 12.3–14.4 tons per hectare. The vegetative period is about 75–78 days, and technical maturity is reached 46–60 days after seedling emergence. It is recommended to soak the seeds before sowing for swelling, and to plant on well-heated, loose soils with neutral acidity. When plants reach a height of 12–15 cm, they are hilled up. Harvesting is carried out several times as the beans mature.
Beans "GOLDEN-LOCK" are rich in vitamins A, B, C, E, as well as minerals — magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and calcium. The pods have a tender, slightly sweet taste with an asparagus aftertaste. The plant enriches the soil with nitrogen thanks to nitrogen-fixing bacteria on the roots, and the leaves can be used as fertilizer after harvesting. Growing beans is not complicated, requires warmth and sunlight, and the variety is relatively resistant to bacterial blight and maintains the tenderness of the pods without the formation of hard fibers.
