Basil Rubra

Premium Basil Variety: «Rubra» by Hild Samen

The «Rubra» variety from the German breeder Hild Samen represents the pinnacle of classic basil selection. Recognized for its deep, rich red-to-purple foliage and robust growth, it stands out as a staple for both culinary enthusiasts and professional growers who prioritize quality consistency.

Growth and Cultivation

Reaching a height of 60–70 cm, this variety forms a substantial, lush plant. With a maturity period of 60–70 days, «Rubra» is engineered to be a reliable mid-season performer. It is a sun-loving plant; direct sunlight is essential for both the structural development of the large leaves and the stimulation of the anthocyanin production that gives this basil its striking dark color.

Diverse Applications

«Rubra» is more than just a kitchen herb; its versatility makes it a market favorite:

• Culinary Use: The large leaves offer a deep, complex flavor profile that elevates salads and gourmet dressings.
• Ornamental Appeal: Its height and intense color make it an excellent choice for decorative garden borders or professional landscaping.
• Essential Oil Production: The high oil content makes this variety ideal for processing into fragrant basil oils and extracts that retain color and potency.

By choosing seeds from Hild Samen, you are leveraging decades of German agricultural expertise. The brand ensures excellent germination rates and genetic purity, making «Rubra» a dependable choice for any garden or commercial production plot.
