A Spicy Accent for Your Garden: 'Dushistiy Krasavchik' Basil

The 'Dushistiy Krasavchik' variety from the 'Sedek' agricultural firm is a breeding discovery that combines aesthetic appeal with distinct culinary qualities. The originators of this hybrid are the company's leading specialists: Sergey Dubinin, Irina Dubinina, and Anatoly Lukyanenko. Thanks to their work, this basil has evolved from a simple herb into a fully-fledged decorative element for both the garden and the windowsill.

Variety Features

The plant reaches compact dimensions of 30–40 cm, making it an ideal choice for growing in pots, planters, or confined garden beds. The uniqueness of this variety lies in its color palette: green and purple shades harmonize beautifully on a single bush. However, the true signature of 'Dushistiy Krasavchik' is its unmistakable aroma, featuring distinct notes of cinnamon that set it apart from classic Genovese varieties.

Culinary Application

The rich flavor makes this basil perfect for a wide range of dishes, from fresh salads to savory marinades and homemade sauces. The high concentration of essential oils is preserved even after heat treatment, making it an excellent seasoning for canning. To fully unlock the plant's potential, ample sunlight is required; therefore, when growing indoors, it is essential to provide access to south-facing windows or supplementary lighting.
