Basil Cardinal

Cardinal Basil is a unique plant that combines decorative appeal with culinary value. Its bright green leaves have a rich aroma and superior taste, making them ideal for use in pesto, sandwiches, salads, and Mediterranean dishes. The leaves are ready for harvest about 60 days after sowing, and if desired, smaller and more tender leaves can be harvested earlier.

The Cardinal's distinguishing feature is its striking flowers, resembling celosia, with thorny inflorescences of reddish-brown color located on bright burgundy stems. Flowering begins in late spring with early planting and continues until the first frost, making the plant not only edible but also a decorative element of the garden. The basil reaches a height of about 60 cm, which allows it to be used to create picturesque borders and compositions.

In addition to its aesthetic function, Cardinal attracts butterflies and bees, contributing to pollination and maintaining biodiversity in the garden. Its planting along the perimeter of the garden helps to repel pests, acting as a natural repellent. The plant pairs well with annual flowering crops, especially those without a strong smell, which allows to create a harmonious and fragrant space in your garden.
