Basil FRESH BREEZE

Cultivation and characteristics of «Svezhiy Briz»

For those who value both yield and distinct aroma, the «Svezhiy Briz» basil from the «Heterosis Breeding» (Geterozisnaya selektsiya) company is a top-tier choice. Standing at 20-30 cm, this compact plant is ideal for tight garden spaces or container gardening. While the crop is generally low-maintenance, consistent watering is essential to maintain the crispness and moisture of the leaves.

Flavor profile and culinary applications

The standout feature of this variety is its intense lemon aroma. Unlike classic purple types, «Svezhiy Briz» offers a much more delicate and refreshing flavor profile. In practice, this makes it incredibly versatile:

• A perfect addition to fresh salads where the lemon notes can replace the need for extra dressing.
• An excellent ingredient for marinades, especially when preparing fish or seafood dishes.
• Indispensable for herbal teas, providing a invigorating citrus boost.
• A unique seasoning that complements rather than masks the primary flavor of a dish.

The plant regenerates quickly after cutting, allowing for multiple harvests throughout the season. Its high essential oil content remains stable even after thermal processing, making it a preferred choice for those who do a lot of home canning and winter meal prep.

Maintenance and growing tips

When planting, spacing is key: despite its small height, the plants need good airflow to prevent fungal issues. In fertile, well-draining soil, «Svezhiy Briz» shows impressive biomass growth. If you are planning to grow this as an indoor crop, ensure it gets at least 6 hours of direct sunlight, otherwise, the intensity of the lemon scent will diminish.
