BALKONNOE CHUDO

The Basil variety "Balkonnoe Chudo" is a mid-season annual plant with a period from germination to the beginning of flowering of about 76 days. The plant is erect, semi-spread, reaches a height of up to 55 cm and differs in medium compactness with raised shoots. The leaves are elongated egg-shaped, green in color with a finely serrated edge, and the flowers are white. The mass of one plant ranges from 25 to 38 grams; meanwhile, the basil has a strong aroma, which makes it popular for use in cooking and medicine. This basil variety is widely used as a condiment: fresh and dried leaves and young shoots are added to dishes, used for pickling and salting. Moreover, "Balkonnoe Chudo" has healing properties—it is used for stomach diseases, bladder inflammation, cough, and externally for wound healing. Due to its characteristics, the basil is suitable for growing both in open ground and at home. Growing "Balkonnoe Chudo" basil is possible on balconies, loggias, and window sills, which makes it convenient for urban conditions. The plant is resistant to reduced lighting and diseases and does not require special care. For planting, it is recommended to sow seeds for seedlings at the end of March—beginning of April, and to plant in open ground at the end of May—beginning of June. Repeat sowings can be carried out at intervals of three weeks until mid-July, which allows for fresh leaves throughout the season.
