Basil AZUR GREEN

Harvest Architecture: Features of the 'Azur Zeleny' Variety

The breeding efforts of 'SDK-SEEDS' regarding the 'Azur Zeleny' basil variety focused on developing a stable profile for intensive cultivation. The primary technical advantage of this variety lies in the balance between compact morphology and high leaf productivity. Growing to a height of 30–40 cm, the basil forms a dense bush with large leaf blades, ensuring a high yield of green mass per unit area, particularly suitable for vertical or container gardening.

Agrotechnical Profile

• Photosynthetic Activity: The variety shows increased demand for insolation. Direct sunlight is a critical factor for the synthesis of essential oils, which define the plant's spicy aromatic profile.
• Morphological Parameters: The large leaf type simplifies harvesting and reduces the time required for post-harvest handling or processing.
• Gastronomic Value: A key varietal characteristic is its mild flavor profile, free from excessive bitterness. This makes 'Azur Zeleny' a versatile tool for both salad mixes and aromatic additions to beverages and teas.

Practical Adaptation

The experts at 'SDK-SEEDS' (originators S. V. Dubinin, A. S. Zharova, and I. N. Dubinina) adapted 'Azur Zeleny' for the requirements of home and small-scale farming. Unlike tall industrial hybrids, this variety is optimized for limited spaces such as windowsills, balconies, and small-scale urban farms. The soft texture of the leaf, combined with a distinct aroma, allows the product to be used both fresh and as a stable component for culinary seasonings that retain their properties even after drying.
