Basil SANDWICH BASIL

The perfect choice for fresh culinary greens

The «Buterbrodny List» (Sandwich Leaf) basil variety from the Gavrish breeding firm is a professional-grade solution for those cultivating greens for fresh consumption. Due to its unique morphology, this variety has become a benchmark for both hobby gardeners and commercial greenhouse farmers targeting the restaurant and fresh produce sectors.

Agronomic advantages

The plant reaches a height of 30–40 cm, allowing for optimized planting density in both greenhouse and open-field conditions. Its key feature is a large, vibrant green leaf with a distinct ruffled (corrugated) texture. This structure provides not only excellent visual appeal but also makes it an ideal «foundation» for sandwiches or bruschetta — the leaf holds its shape perfectly without wilting or becoming mushy when paired with other ingredients.

Practical use cases

• Culinary & HoReCa: Its intense aromatic profile and savory flavor make it an essential component for high-quality salads where a bold basil presence is required.
• Preserving: This variety performs exceptionally well in marinades. The dense leaf structure allows it to retain its texture even during short heat treatments or when combined with hot brines.
• Processing: The high concentration of essential oils makes it perfect for complex sauces and herb blends where flavor intensity is key.

Choosing «Buterbrodny List» ensures a predictable result: the plant maintains its tenderness for longer, avoiding premature stem hardening, which is critical for maintaining a steady supply chain of fresh greens.
