Barley Xanthe

German Breeding for Consistent Yields

The spring barley variety "Xante" by Nordsaat Saatzucht is a reliable choice for agronomists prioritizing stability in unpredictable climate conditions. This variety successfully blends German grain quality standards with high adaptability, allowing farmers to plan yields effectively even during periods of moderate moisture deficit.

Biological Potential and Resilience

The core strength of "Xante" lies in its phytosanitary profile. It demonstrates rare resistance to Septoria, which significantly reduces the need for heavy fungicide applications. Its comprehensive resistance to pathogens—including powdery mildew, Fusarium, and various rusts—ensures the integrity of the ear through to harvest.

• Development: A 90-100 day growth cycle ensures early maturity, helping to avoid late-summer heat stress.
• Morphology: A compact plant height of 70-80 cm minimizes lodging risks, simplifying harvesting operations.
• Thousand-Grain Weight: Ranging from 40 to 48 grams, the variety produces well-filled, high-density grain.

Who is this variety for?

"Xante" is ideal for farms utilizing intensive cultivation techniques. Under high-input conditions, the variety is capable of reaching its full yield potential. With its 8/9 winter-hardiness rating, it performs exceptionally well when sown early, making it highly suited for regions with short spring vegetation periods. It is a balanced solution for those seeking consistency; the variety performs reliably with proper management, delivering high-quality commercial grain with excellent weight characteristics.
