YAIK

The YAIK spring barley variety is a medium-late, medium-height grain-forage variety created through hybridization followed by individual selection from a hybrid population of Omsky golozerny 1 x Chelyabinsk 99. It belongs to the forest-steppe ecological group and is recommended for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe agro-landscapes of the Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions. The variety is characterized by high drought resistance and stable yield, responding well to high agro-fertility, which ensures a high productivity potential.

YAIK is characterized by resistance to lodging, although it lags behind standards by 1 point, and is susceptible to certain diseases such as bunt, powdery bunt, and stem rust. The grain contains up to 10.1% protein, making it valuable for grain-forage use. The maximum yield of the variety reaches 59.2 centners per hectare, confirming its effectiveness in regional agricultural conditions.
