Barley Voivode

Stable Yields for Intensive Farming

The «Voievoda» barley variety, developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute, is a reliable choice for Ukrainian farmers seeking high-quality forage grain. Its main advantage is the synergy between rapid maturation and high thousand-grain weight, allowing for efficient moisture utilization early in the season.

Key Agrotechnical Features

• Resilience and Phytosanitary Control: Genetic resistance to covered smut (stone smut) eliminates a major threat to crops, reducing reliance on intensive fungicide application. The variety also shows robust resistance to onion stem smut, making it a predictable component in crop rotation schemes.
• Morphology and Growth: The two-row ear combined with a moderate plant height of 80–90 cm ensures excellent lodging resistance, simplifying harvest even with heavy machinery. An 80–90 day vegetation period allows the crop to mature before the peak of July heat.
• Grain Quality: With a nitrogen content of 12% in dry matter, this barley is a valuable asset for livestock feed formulations. The high thousand-seed mass (48–50 g) guarantees excellent energy for the next sowing season.

Why Choose «Voievoda»

This variety is tailored for farms that employ intensive cultivation techniques on fertile soils. Due to its fast growth pace, it is highly effective in regions prone to dry, late-summer conditions. «Voievoda» is the professional choice for agronomists who prioritize the balance between early harvest capabilities and heavy, high-quality grain yields.
