SonceDar is a barley variety developed with adaptation to drought-prone conditions of the steppe zone. It is characterized by high yield, reaching 55-80 c/ha under production conditions, and early maturity — the vegetation period is approximately 74-81 days. The plant has a height of 75 to 100 cm, semi-spreading bush with a medium-length, densely packed two-rowed ear. Leaves are narrow, dark green, and hairless, contributing to resistance against adverse weather conditions. The variety exhibits high resistance to common leaf and stem diseases, as well as to powdery and stinking smut, ensuring stable yields. Grain is large, yellow, elongated-oval in shape, with a 1000-grain weight of 50-55 g. The number of grains per ear varies from 16 to 26, indicating good grain-filling capacity. Due to these characteristics, Soncedar is one of the best varieties for cultivation in dry steppe regions of Ukraine. It is recommended for cultivation in steppe, forest-steppe, and polysteppe regions of Ukraine, as confirmed by its inclusion in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine. It is suitable for use as a food crop, as well as for fodder and green manure purposes. High adaptability and resistance to stress factors make Soncedar a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain a stable and high-quality barley harvest.
