Stepovik

Barley variety Stepovik is a cereal crop recommended for cultivation in the Polissia, forest-steppe, and steppe regions. This medium-maturing variety has a vegetation period of 76-80 days and plant height ranging from 60 to 72 cm. Stepovik belongs to the nutans variety with a two-row ear type, which has a cylindrical shape, not overly dense, and relatively short. Plants are semi-erect and compact, facilitating convenient mechanized harvest. Grain is flat, uniform, straw-yellow in color, with a 1000-grain weight of 48-52 grams. The variety responds well to improved agrotechnical conditions and higher humidity, allowing potential yields up to 7.0 tons per hectare. Protein content in grain is approximately 9.5%, making it suitable for various uses. Due to its biological characteristics, Stepovik is adapted to light, temperature, and soil conditions typical of its cultivation zones. The vegetation cycle includes all main stages of barley development: from seed germination and emergence to tillering, flowering, and grain ripening. The variety was developed by the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and registered in 2011. Stepovik is widely used in agriculture for barley cultivation, ensuring stable and high yields. Its characteristics make it convenient for mechanized cultivation and harvesting, enhancing agricultural efficiency in regions with suitable climatic conditions.
