Galatea — a medium-early winter barley hybrid, characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to major leaf diseases. This variety demonstrates high adaptability to various cultivation technologies and can successfully grow in different soil-climate zones of Ukraine. Due to its plasticity, Galatea tolerates drought periods well and exhibits high resistance to extreme weather conditions.
The hybrid was developed using revolutionary Hyvido™ technology, ensuring stable high yields even under challenging climatic conditions. Yield potential reaches 100–110 c/ha, with plant tiller numbers ranging from 6 to 8 per plant. Maturation is medium-early, and sowing is recommended 10–15 days earlier than traditional varieties, promoting better plant development.
Galatea prefers soils with high humus content, especially after typical preceding crops, and fully utilizes applied mineral fertilizers. Seedling protection involves a complex set of measures based on plant condition assessment. Due to its agronomic characteristics, this hybrid is widely used in farms for animal feed and provides high productivity under intensive cultivation.
