CALKYUL

Calkyul — a mid-season variety of spring barley, intended primarily for brewing purposes. Plants of this variety are low-growing, reaching a height of about 65 cm, which ensures resistance to stem brittleness and head drooping. The mass of 1000 grains varies within the range of 41–51 grams, indicating good grain quality. The variety is characterized by high yield, reaching up to 7.8 t/ha in production conditions and up to 9.9 t/ha in state tests, making it attractive to agrarians focused on maximum harvest. Calkyul has high resistance to various diseases, including powdery and stone smut, root rots, netted blotch, rhynchosporium, and dwarf rust. In addition, the variety demonstrates good drought resistance, which allows it to be grown in various climatic conditions, including the Moscow region and other regions. For crop protection, mandatory seed treatment against smut diseases and fungicide application before heading is recommended, which helps maintain plant health and increase yield. The Calkyul variety is suitable for both brewing production and fodder purposes, expanding its application possibilities. The sowing rate is 330–350 seeds per square meter for early sowings and 350–400 seeds for late ones, allowing for optimization of plant density depending on sowing dates. Due to the combination of high yield, resistance to diseases, and adverse weather conditions, Calkyul is a reliable choice for modern agricultural enterprises.
