Feed barley is an important feed crop, widely used in animal husbandry and poultry farming for feeding agricultural animals and birds. It is characterized by high gluten content, which helps strengthen immunity and improve animal productivity. To ensure high-quality feed barley, strict standards exist: grain impurities must not exceed 15%, moisture content — up to 15%, weed content — no more than 5%, and protein content — at least 12%.
This type of barley is distinguished by its high early maturity, drought and cold resistance, making it a reliable crop for cultivation under various climatic conditions. Feed barley can be produced from winter barley and is available in various packaging options, which is convenient for procurement and use in agriculture. On the market, feed barley is typically 10% cheaper than food barley, making it an advantageous choice for farmers and livestock enterprises.
The primary use of feed barley is feeding animals and birds, as well as producing compound feeds. In this regard, approximately 75% of all harvested barley grain is used for these purposes. In addition to feed applications, barley is also used in the food industry for producing grits, coffee substitutes, and flour, although barley flour is rarely used in baking due to its low gluten content. Feed barley is widely available on the Ukrainian market with delivery options across the country and abroad.
