Barley Tolar

Czech breeding for professional yields

The Tolar spring barley, developed by Moravoseed, is a strategic choice for agronomists prioritizing result predictability in volatile weather. Czech breeding programs are recognized for their robust adaptation to diverse soil types, and Tolar proves this by maintaining stable performance metrics even under intensive cultivation practices.

Phytosanitary resilience

The core strength of this variety is its genetic resistance to a complex of diseases that typically cause significant yield losses during the mid-season. Tolar demonstrates high tolerance against key pathogens:

• Helminthosporium: reduced risk of leaf surface damage.
• Brown rust: ensures the retention of photosynthetic area throughout the development cycle.
• Powdery mildew: minimizes the need for multiple fungicidal applications.

These traits make it an optimal choice for farms focused on reducing pesticide input while maintaining high grain quality. The variety features a sturdy stem, which effectively mitigates lodging risks when applying high nitrogen rates needed for high-class malting or fodder production.

Targeting the right field

Tolar is best suited for farmers operating in temperate climates. Thanks to its combination of disease resistance and flexibility in sowing dates, the variety allows for adaptive field management. However, for Tolar to reach its full genetic potential, it requires strict adherence to crop rotation and optimal nutrient management. It is not recommended for depleted soils lacking proper fertilization, making it a professional-grade selection for farms with a solid agrotechnological foundation.
