Barley Pride of Palmira

Technical Profile of «Gordist Palmiry» Winter Barley

Developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (National Center for Seed and Cultivar Research, Ukraine), the «Gordist Palmiry» variety is designed for high-stress agricultural zones. This six-row winter barley features an architecture optimized for moisture-limited environments, ensuring high productivity and tillering efficiency.

Hardiness and Morphology

The core technical advantage of this variety is its exceptional winter hardiness, rated at 8-9 points. With a plant height of 100-110 cm, it balances biomass accumulation with structural integrity, effectively resisting lodging even under intensive nitrogen management. Its ability to recover rapidly after winter dormancy makes it a reliable asset for stable grain yields.

Phytopathological Defense Mechanisms

The genetic make-up of «Gordist Palmiry» provides robust resistance against common barley diseases, reducing the dependency on extensive fungicide programs:

• Helminthosporiosis: High tolerance protects the photosynthetic area of the leaves during critical development phases.
• Stem Smut: Strong genetic resistance prevents structural damage to the plant's vascular system.
• Powdery Mildew: Efficient suppression of mycelium growth in the early stages of vegetation.
• Loose Smut: Complete genetic resistance ensures seed health and preserves commercial grain quality.

This variety is an engineered solution for producers seeking predictability in changing climatic conditions. By integrating superior cold tolerance with innate protection against primary pathogens, it allows for more efficient resource management without compromising final output.
