Belozar is a spring barley variety developed at the Federal Research Center “Nemchinovka” as part of breeding work to create high-yielding and adaptive crops. It is distinguished by high stress resistance to abiotic and biotic factors, ensuring stable yield and good grain quality even under variable climate conditions. The variety is intended for use in the brewing industry, where it is valued for its high quality of malt and grain.
During variety trials, Belozar showed weak ear droop and high resistance to lodging, which is an important advantage for cultivation on stony soils and in regions with unfavorable weather conditions. The variety belongs to mid-early maturity and has successfully adapted to the conditions of Central Russia, as confirmed by the results of multi-year studies conducted at the Upper Volga FANC. Belozar demonstrates good productive tillering and large grains, which contributes to high yield and product quality.
Breeding trials conducted from 2020 to 2022 showed that the variety maintains its characteristics even with increased climate aridity and lack of moisture during critical growth phases. Despite dry periods, Belozar maintains yield potential and grain quality, making it promising for further propagation and widespread introduction into agricultural production. Thanks to these properties, the Belozar variety is a reliable choice for farmers focused on producing quality barley for the brewing industry and animal feed.
