Barley KUZBAS YUBILEYNY

Technical Profile: 'Kuzbassky Yubileyny' Barley

Developed by the Siberian Federal Scientific Center for Agrobiotechnologies (RAS), this spring barley variety is engineered specifically for regions with short growing seasons and significant moisture deficits. The plant architecture of this six-row barley is designed for optimal photosynthetic efficiency during a tight 72–87 day maturation window.

Vegetation and Structural Dynamics

The variety is built for rapid adaptation. Its 72–87 day vegetation period acts as a strategic mechanism to evade late-summer droughts. With a plant height of 60–85 cm, it strikes an essential balance between biomass accumulation and culm strength, effectively minimizing lodging risks even under heavy rainfall conditions.

Grain Productivity and Morphology

The core technical advantage of this variety is its six-row ear design. This morphology significantly increases the grain count per head compared to two-row varieties, translating directly into higher potential yield. The thousand-kernel weight (TKW) ranges from 40–48 grams. Such heavy, well-filled grain is critical for initial sprouting energy and the development of a robust tillering node, which is essential for crop survival in harsh environments.

The practicality of 'Kuzbassky Yubileyny' lies in its harvest predictability. The combination of uniform grain maturation and controlled plant height allows for precise machinery calibration, reducing threshing losses. Its reliable grain density and consistent growth patterns make it a highly manageable tool for agricultural rotations that require rapid field clearing for subsequent crop cycles.
