Zoran is a mid-late six-row barley variety intended for grain production. It is distinguished by high winter hardiness and good resistance to drought, shattering, and barley diseases, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. Recommended for cultivation in all zones of Ukraine, where, upon adherence to standard agrotechnology, mandatory seed treatment, and fertilizer application, the variety demonstrates an average yield of 60-70 c/ha. Sowing rate is 180-250 kg/ha depending on sowing dates and weather conditions.
Zoran variety possesses high fodder value, confirmed by studies conducted in the Moscow region. The grain is characterized by increased protein and starch content, as well as high vitreousness, natural moisture, and 1000-grain mass. These qualities make it suitable for both fodder use and food purposes, including cereal production. Porridge from Zoran grain has a light cream color and good technological properties.
The development of the Zoran variety was carried out within breeding programs aimed at creating barley with high stress resistance to abiotic and biotic factors. Breeding laboratories focus not only on increasing yield and grain quality but also on implementing modern biotechnologies to improve variety characteristics. Thanks to these efforts, Zoran is a promising and competitive barley variety suitable for various applications.
