Description OMSKY 105
OMSKY 105 is a medium-maturing, two-row spring barley of the steppe ecotype, distinguished by high yield and grain quality. The plant is of medium height with a semi-erect culm, featuring a pyramidal spike of medium density with long awned awns and weak anthocyanin pigmentation. The vegetative period is 73-86 days; it matures slightly later than some other varieties, such as Acha and Omsk 88. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 40 to 52 grams, indicating the large-grained nature of the variety. The sheaths of the lower leaves are smooth with a strong waxy coating, enhancing the plant's resistance to unfavorable conditions.

The variety is characterized by high resistance to drought and lodging, making it adaptive to various climatic conditions. It is recommended for cultivation in the Altai Krai, Novosibirsk and Omsk Oblasts, and is also successfully grown in the Western Siberia and Ural regions. The average yield of the variety is about 25.6 c/ha, exceeding the average standard by 2.2 c/ha. Maximum yield indicators reached 55 c/ha in the Tyumen Oblast and 6.3 t/ha in experimental conditions of the Omsk Agricultural Science Center.

In terms of quality indicators, the grain of the OMSKY 105 variety is distinguished by high protein content (11.6-15.1%), fat (about 1.99%) and starch (56.5%), making it valuable for agricultural production. However, the variety is susceptible to certain diseases, such as loose smut and net blotch, and is highly susceptible to powdery mildew and root rots. Despite this, it possesses good adaptability and stability, as confirmed by studies under various climatic conditions and levels of nitrogen nutrition.
