Description KICHIGIN
The Kichigin apricot variety was bred in 1937 through free pollination of a Manchurian apricot and named after the village of Kichigino. The tree is of medium height, reaching 3.5 to 5 meters, with a rounded or flat, medium-density crown. Leaves are bright green, round-shaped with serrated edges and a pointed tip. Flowering begins in early May, and fruiting starts in the 5th year of the tree's life, with fruit ripening at the end of July to early August.

Kichigin apricot fruits are small, about 15 grams, round-shaped, bright yellow with orange speckles. The flesh is juicy, sour-sweet, with non-bitter skin, and the stone separates easily. Sugar content is about 6.3%, acids - 2.3%, and vitamin C - 7.6 mg per 100 grams. The fruits are rich in vitamins A, C, potassium, and beta-carotene. They withstand transportation well and can be stored in a cool place for 5 to 7 days.

The variety is distinguished by high resistance to frost down to -40 degrees and hot weather, but it poorly withstands high humidity. Kichigin apricot is self-sterile and requires pollinators such as Medovoy, Chelyabinsk Ranny, or Pikantny. The yield is up to 15 kg per tree. Due to its characteristics, the variety is the progenitor of more elite varieties, such as Medovoy and Zolotoy Nektar.
