Apple Renet Simirenka

A Legendary Classic of Ukrainian Pomology

Renet Simirenko is more than just an apple variety; it is a cultural icon of Ukrainian orcharding. Developed at the L.P. Simirenko Institute of Pomology, this variety has remained the gold standard for green apple lovers for decades. Its defining characteristic is its outstanding storage potential and dessert quality, which fully matures several months after harvesting.

Growth Characteristics and Vigor

The tree is categorized as vigorous, requiring consistent pruning and canopy management. Its broad pyramidal crown allows for optimal sunlight penetration when properly pruned—a vital factor for flavor development and the appearance of the signature small, light-colored dots on the skin. Known for good winter hardiness, it remains a reliable choice for various Ukrainian climatic zones.

Why Choose Renet Simirenko?

• Key Strengths: Exceptional shelf life (the fruits remain juicy and firm until June), a perfect balance of wine-like acidity and sweetness, and high commercial value.
• Points to Consider: Its vigor requires regular maintenance; the tree is susceptible to scab in high-humidity conditions, making preventive spraying a necessity.

Renet Simirenko is an ideal choice for both private gardens and commercial orchards where consistency is valued. By selecting this variety, you are investing in a harvest that stands the test of time, maintaining its texture and freshness long after other varieties have passed their peak.
