RENET Povolzhya

The 'Renet Povolzhya' apple cultivar is a promising winter variety developed at the Tatarstan Research Institute of Agriculture and recommended for cultivation in the Volga-Vyatsk, Middle Volga, and Urals regions. The trees are of medium height with a medium or wide pyramidal crown, which can be spherical or rounded, with medium density. Leaves are dark green, broadly ovate, and doubly serrated. Branch bark is light and yellowish. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to scab, as well as pests such as aphids and apple twig borer. 'Renet Povolzhya' apples have a medium size, weighing from 80 to 100 grams, with an oblate-conical or flat-round shape featuring a broadly ribbed surface and a small or filled calyx. The skin is glossy and greenish-yellow. The flesh is white, juicy, firm, and aromatic, with an acidic-sweet dessert flavor. The fruits contain up to 18 mg% of vitamin C, 8.41% sugar, and 0.90% acidity, making them versatile for consumption. Seeds are narrow, brown, with a prominent longitudinal ridge. Apples ripen in mid-September and are classified as winter varieties that store well for 4–5 months. Yield is medium in young trees, reaching 23 kg per tree in the second fruiting year, and can reach up to 43.1 centners per hectare at full maturity. Thanks to its qualities and resilience, the 'Renet Povolzhya' variety is suitable for cultivation under various climatic conditions in the Middle Volga and neighboring regions, ensuring a stable and high-quality harvest.
