MANTUAN

The Mantuan apple variety is a medium-sized tree with a wide, medium-density canopy that can have a flat-round or wide-pyramidal shape. This variety is characterized by good adaptation to various climatic conditions, high winter hardiness, and resistance to powdery mildew, making it attractive for cultivation in gardens and homestead plots. Trees begin to bear fruit as early as 2-3 years after planting, demonstrating high productivity and longevity.

Fruits of the Mantuan variety have a medium size, weighing about 120 grams, with a round-conical shape and ribbed surface. The fruit skin is dense, thin, with a characteristic waxy bloom, yellowish-green in color with a bright red blush on the sunlit side, adorned with large white spots. The apple flesh is cream-colored, juicy, and crisp, with a sweet-sour taste that gives the fruits a pleasant aroma and good marketability. Harvestable maturity occurs in mid-September, while consumer maturity is in early October.

The Mantuan variety is characterized by good transportability and the ability to be stored for a long time at temperatures from +2 to +6 °C until March-April. It is not particular about soils and location, which facilitates its cultivation. Despite high resistance to powdery mildew, fruits may be susceptible to scab, and with the age of the trees, the size of the apples may decrease. Nevertheless, the variety is popular due to its high yield, excellent market appearance, and ability to respond well to fertilization.
