Apple MAGAS

Magas Winter Apple: A Breeding Achievement by Ao Sad-gigant

The 'Magas' apple variety, developed by the experts at Ao Sad-gigant under the guidance of Zamir Balkizov, stands as a prime example of modern pomology. Bred specifically for regions with volatile climates, this winter variety focuses on the most critical challenge for growers: natural resistance to common orchard diseases.

Core Advantages and Biological Traits

The primary strength of the Magas variety is its genetic resilience to apple scab. In a commercial orchard environment, this trait is a game-changer, significantly reducing the dependency on intensive chemical spray programs. The tree itself is medium-sized with a well-balanced, rounded canopy, which simplifies maintenance, pruning, and harvesting operations.

• Winter Hardiness: The variety shows excellent resistance to harsh cold, ensuring that fruit buds remain productive even after unpredictable winters.
• Fruit Quality: Magas apples are impressive, ranging from 150 to 250 grams. Their aesthetic appeal—a greenish-yellow base color complemented by a soft light-orange blush—ensures high market demand.
• Disease Management: Beyond its resilience to scab, the variety boasts strong resistance to powdery mildew, making it a low-maintenance option for farmers looking to optimize their pesticide budget.

Who Should Choose the Magas Variety?

Magas is tailored for professional growers looking to strike a balance between high yield and operational efficiency. The medium vigor of the tree makes it an ideal candidate for high-density planting schemes, while the superior storage capability inherent to winter apples allows producers to hold their harvest until market prices peak. For farmers aiming to minimize biological risks and reduce the overhead costs of disease protection, Magas offers a reliable, high-performance path to a profitable harvest.
