Apple Renet Kuban — a late-winter variety developed at the North Caucasus Zonal Institute of Horticulture and Viticulture based on clonal and mutational selection of the Renet Simirenko variety. The tree is medium- or low-growing with a flat-round, moderately dense crown and hanging lower branches. In its early years, growth is vigorous, but with age the crown becomes more compact, facilitating care and harvest. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to common diseases, including scab, which reduces the need for frequent chemical treatments. Due to these qualities, the apple tree is suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones, including regions with chernozem soils. Renet Kuban apples have medium to large size, weighing up to 150 grams, round shape, and bright green color with large white spots and dark raspberry blush on the sun-exposed side. The skin is dense, smooth, with a slight waxy coating. The flesh is creamy, juicy, with a characteristic tart-sweet taste and pronounced aroma. The chemical composition of the fruit includes dry matter within 12.5–14.4%, sugars around 10.5%, titratable acids 0.9%, and ascorbic acid at 8.3–12.7 mg per 100 grams. The apples store well, with a shelf life extending until June and beyond, allowing for prolonged use after harvest. The fruit is primarily used universally: suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for processing into juices, jams, compotes, and baked goods. Due to its harmonious flavor and aroma, Renet Kuban is especially valued for making apple desserts. For successful cultivation, select sunny sites and fertile soils, and when planting, observe pit dimensions of about 0.6 meters in diameter and 0.5–0.6 meters deep, followed by watering. Tree care includes regular pruning of branches, thinning of fruit set, and maintaining fruit storage conditions, contributing to high-quality yields.
