Orion

The Orion apple variety is a late-autumn, high-yield variety that begins fruiting by the third year of life. This triploid variety was bred by crossing the Golden Delicious and Otava varieties. The trees are medium-sized, which facilitates care and harvest. Thanks to high resistance to scab and other diseases, the variety is suitable for organic cultivation without the use of chemical preparations.

Orion apple fruits are large, weighing about 200-250 grams, round in shape with a light-green color with pronounced yellowness and a slight pink blush that appears during storage. The flesh is creamy with a yellow tint, dense, very juicy and crisp. The taste is harmonious, sweet-and-sour with high sugar content (brix above 16), which makes the apples especially tasty and aromatic.

Harvest readiness comes in the first decade of October, however, the fruits can be stored until April, during which they acquire a reddish blush. Apples have good commercial appearance and high transportability, which makes the variety in demand for both personal consumption and commercial cultivation.
