ORENBURG LATE APPLE

The Orenburg Late Apple is a variety resulting from selection work carried out at the Orenburg Experimental Station of Pomology and Viticulture. This variety was bred by crossing different varieties, including the Weeping Yablonia Vyudubeckaya and Welsh, as well as a seedling of a large-fruited apple tree with the White Naliv variety. The tree is characterized by a natural dwarf or semi-dwarf growth habit, with a round-spreading crown of medium density and rarely placed branches, which facilitates care and harvest collection. The variety is early-yielding, beginning to bear fruit as early as the second or third year after grafting, and is characterized by high yield.

The fruits of the Orenburg Late Apple variety have an average mass ranging from 108 to 160 grams, with a shape ranging from round-conical to round weakly ribbed. The pulp varies from creamy to green, is tender and juicy, and has a sweet-and-sour taste. Commercial maturity is reached at the end of September, and the fruits are intended for winter storage and consumption, with the characteristic taste and aroma being revealed specifically during storage. The fruits have good transportability, which makes the variety convenient for distribution and long-term storage.

The Orenburg Late Apple variety has high resistance to scab and good winter hardiness, which allows it to be successfully grown in the conditions of the central region and the Ural region.
