Apple Blagovest is a winter variety bred by the V.I. Michurin All-Russian Research Institute for Genetics and Breeding of Fruit Crops through crossing the Prima and Bessemyanka Michurinskaya varieties. The tree is of medium height, reaching 2-3 meters, with an elongated-rounded crown of medium density. Leaves are elliptical, green, smooth and glossy, while large light-pink flowers have a pleasant aroma. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to scab, although it may be affected by powdery mildew, rust, and spot.
The fruits of the Blagovest apple are large and uniform, weighing from 160 to 190 grams, round in shape with a slight flattening. Their coloration is greenish-yellow with a raspberry blush, the flesh is yellowish, dense, fine-grained, juicy and tender, with a sour-sweet taste and aroma. Ripening occurs in September, while the consumption period lasts from September to January or March, allowing for a long enjoyment of fresh fruits. The yield of the variety is high, reaching 162 centners per hectare, and fruiting begins on the fifth year after planting and occurs annually without periodicity.
For successful cultivation of the Blagovest apple, it is recommended to choose sunny plots with loamy, chernozem, or podzolic soils. The variety is early-bearing and productive, making it attractive to gardeners seeking to obtain high-quality and tasty fruits with good keeping quality. Thanks to the combination of high winter hardiness, resistance to scab, and excellent taste qualities, the Blagovest apple is a reliable choice for regions with a cold climate.
