DR. KUNOVSKY

The Dr. Kunovsky apple is an autumn technical variety developed at the M.A. Lisavenko Siberian Horticulture Research Institute and the Barнауl Research Institute of Fruit Crops. The tree is medium-sized with a rounded canopy of medium density, distinguished by its resistance to scab and moderate winter hardiness. Fruit bearing begins in the fourth year after planting, allowing for a relatively quick harvest.

Dr. Kunovsky apples have an average weight of 38 to 46 grams, a flat-round shape with prominent but smooth ridges. Their coloration varies from greenish-yellow to deep purple. The flesh is creamy, firm, and juicy, with a medium acid-sweet taste, suitable for technical processing. The fruit ripens in late August to early September and can be stored for 30 to 60 days.

A distinguishing feature of the variety is its high content of pectin substances, making it valuable for processing. Additionally, the fruit is rich in vitamin C (19–25 mg%) and vitamin P (323 mg%), enhancing their nutritional value. The variety is well-adapted to the conditions of the Altai region and other Siberian zones, making it promising for cultivation in these areas.
