Apple ABALONIA

Breeding Profile and Tree Architecture

The 'Chernomorskoye Indenko' apple variety is a product of scientific selection by the Federal Research Center for Subtropical Scientific Center of the RAS. It is engineered for specific subtropical climatic conditions. The tree exhibits moderate vigor and maintains a balanced, rounded crown shape. This structure is agronomically advantageous, as it facilitates canopy management, air circulation, and light penetration, which are essential for maintaining fruit quality.

Fruit Morphology and Commercial Specifications

The fruit displays significant weight potential, ranging from 150 to 300 grams. The skin features a yellowish-green base color accented by a distinct red blush. The white flesh offers a specific texture profile; however, the shelf life is limited to approximately one month, categorizing it as a variety intended for immediate local market supply or processing rather than long-term cold storage. Growers should manage crop load effectively to ensure the fruits reach their full weight potential within the specified range.

Phytosanitary Resistance and Cultivation Limits

A key technological asset of this variety is its genetic resistance to apple scab (Venturia inaequalis), which significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications. Maintenance programs should focus on standard prophylactic measures against powdery mildew. Given its moderate winter hardiness, the variety performs optimally in warmer climates where the risk of severe freezing and cambium damage remains low.
