The Evrika 99.1 plum cultivar is a medium-late Russian variety with oval-shaped fruits weighing about 40 grams. The fruits have a color ranging from dark red to burgundy-purple with a white waxy coating, and the flesh has a rich dark pink or blood-red hue, medium density, juiciness, and a high-quality sweet-sour taste. The fruits are transportable and versatile in use. The trees are vigorous, columnar in shape, characterized by high and stable yields, as well as high frost resistance and disease resistance. The flowering of this variety occurs later than other plum varieties, making it an excellent pollinator for other plums and plums, including diploid varieties. The variety is recommended for cultivation throughout Ukraine and is especially useful in gardens with pollination problems. The Evrika 99.1 rootstock is dwarf and ensures compact tree growth, which is convenient for placement in home gardens and intensive plantings. It promotes rapid root system development and allows harvesting the first crop within 2-3 years after planting. The rootstock exhibits high resistance to drought, heat, heavy and waterlogged soils, excess lime, as well as bacterial cancer, root rots, and nematodes. The root system is winter-hardy and does not produce root suckers, reducing maintenance costs in fruit orchards. The rootstock was developed at the Crimea Experimental Selection Station of VNIIR named after Vavilov by crossing plum varieties with plums. For successful cultivation of plums on the Evrika 99.1 rootstock, it is recommended to follow planting, soil care, watering, and pruning guidelines. The variety demonstrates high resistance to major diseases such as clasterosporiosis and powdery mildew, although pest infestations, including aphids and mites, may occur. High yield, resistance to adverse conditions, and compactness make the Evrika 99.1 variety attractive for both commercial and hobbyist gardening.
