Description VOLGA 18
VOLGA 18 rootstock is a crabapple clone (Malus Mill.) developed in the Volga-Ural region and intended for a wide range of climatic conditions, including sharply continental zones with cold winters and variable precipitation. The tree is characterized by medium height, upright growth habit, and moderate shoot vigor. The bark has a greenish-brown hue, while the leaves are elongated, ovoid, light green, smooth and matte with serrated edges.

VOLGA 18 is distinguished by high winter hardiness, making it particularly valuable for regions with severe cold. At the same time, the tree maintains pest resistance and is well compatible with most apple cultivars – the compatibility coefficient during grafting reaches 94-99%. The buds are of medium size, round in shape, and the petiole is also medium-sized and pubescent.

Among the advantages of VOLGA 18 rootstocks is good adaptation to various soil conditions and drought resistance, confirmed by experimental studies in the Volga-Ural region. The tree demonstrates stable productivity and survival even under adverse climatic conditions, ensuring a reliable harvest for gardeners.
