Macadamia (lat. Macadamia F. Muell.) belongs to the Proteaceae family. In commercial orchards, trees are propagated primarily through grafting selected scions onto seedling rootstocks, which ensures genetic consistency and accelerates the time to first fruit.

Planting typically occurs at the start of the rainy season to allow young trees to establish their root systems before the onset of dry conditions. Care must be taken during transplantation, as the roots are delicate and susceptible to damage.
