Description Amur
The spring barley variety 'Amur' is a mid-early, short-statured grain-forage variety designed for cultivation in the Far Eastern region, including the Amur Region, Primorsky, and Khabarovsk regions. The vegetative period ranges from 64 to 77 days, with the mass of 1000 grains varying between 42-45 grams. The plant is characterized by medium height, a semi-erect bush, and high resistance to lodging. The ear is cylindrical of medium density with a waxy coating, as well as long barbed awn hairs with strong anthocyanin pigmentation. The grain is of medium size, with an unpubescent abdominal groove and embracing lodicules. The variety is distinguished by high drought resistance and can yield an average productivity of about 32 c/ha, with maximum indicators reaching up to 45.5 c/ha. Protein content in the grain reaches 15.1%.

Despite high agronomic indicators, in field conditions, the 'Amur' variety is susceptible to severe damage by diseases such as helminthosporiosis, powdery scab, and reticulate leaf spot, which requires attention during its cultivation. Nevertheless, the variety has occupied more than 30% of the barley sown area in the Amur Region, indicating its significance and demand among agricultural producers in the region.

The creation of the 'Amur' variety was the result of the work of breeders at the Far Eastern State Agrarian University, who actively implement modern breeding methods, including the use of doubled haploids and molecular-biological technologies. These innovations allow accelerating the breeding process and improving the quality of new varieties. The 'Amur' variety also served as the basis for breeding new barley varieties, such as 'Vostok-24', which surpasses it in yield and disease resistance.
