BROVAR

BROVAR is a mid-ripening spring barley variety intended for cultivation in various regions, including the Central and Volga-Vyatsky. It is characterized by a medium-height, semi-erect bush with a stem height of about 90-95 cm and an erect cylindrical ear about 10 cm long. The variety has large grain, with a mass of 1000 grains ranging from 38 to 50 grams, and grain natural weight reaching 650 g/l. The vegetative period is 71-89 days, allowing the variety to mature slightly earlier or later than some other varieties, providing flexibility in agrotechnical sowing and harvesting dates.

The BROVAR variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and drought at the level of standard varieties, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. It has good resistance to powdery scald and moderate resistance to dark brown blotch, although it is susceptible to stripe blotch and helminthosporium. Thanks to high productive bushiness and large grain, the variety demonstrates stable yield, which on average reaches 28.9 c/ha, with maximum indicators up to 61.8 c/ha in favorable conditions.

BROVAR belongs to brewing barley varieties, confirmed by high technological indicators: malt extractivity is 80.4%, protein content in grain is about 11.5%, and in malt is 10.3%. Wort viscosity is at the level of 1.27 mPa, and saccharification duration is about 20 minutes. These characteristics make the variety particularly valuable for the production of quality malt and beer. In addition, the variety is distinguished by uniform ripening, high uniformity of tillering and grain, as well as resistance to root sprouting, which facilitates its agrotechnical use and improves crop quality.
