Description YAROMIR
Spring barley variety 'Yaromir' is a mid-season, medium-height grain crop belonging to the nutant group. This variety is characterized by its versatility and adaptability for cultivation in various regions, including the North, Northwestern, Central, and Volga-Vyatsky regions. The plant features an intermediate bush type, a cylindrical ear of medium density with a waxy coating, and large, uniform grains with a weight of 1000 seeds ranging from 38 to 51 grams. The vegetative period ranges from 69 to 87 days, allowing for harvest in a short time, which is particularly important for regions with a limited warm period. The 'Yaromir' variety has good drought resistance at the level of standard varieties, as well as high lodging resistance, surpassing some benchmark varieties in this regard. However, it is moderately susceptible to powdery mildew and susceptible to root rots and helminthosporiosis. The yield of the variety varies depending on the region: in the Central region, the average yield is about 29.6 c/ha, in the Volga-Vyatsky region up to 41.4 c/ha, and maximum indicators reach 77.3 c/ha. The grain of the variety is distinguished by high brewing and forage qualities, protein content from 9.6 to 14.5%, extractivity up to 81%, and low huskiness of 7-9%. Barley 'Yaromir' is widely used in the food industry for the production of cereals, flour, and malt, making it in demand for brewing. Moreover, due to the high nutritional value of the grain, it is a valuable feed for animals. The rapid development cycle and adaptability to various soil and climatic conditions, including light soils with moderate moisture, make this variety attractive for agricultural production. High drought resistance and the ability to obtain a stable harvest in a short period ensure the economic efficiency of cultivating this barley variety.
