Description CHERIO
CHERIO is a medium-maturing spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) variety intended for grain-forage use. This variety is distinguished by its high resistance to lodging, ensuring harvest stability and ease of harvesting. CHERIO is included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements and recommended for cultivation in the Northwestern and Central regions of Russia. The variety's yield reaches 27.1 c/ha in the Northwestern region and 28.7 c/ha in the Central region, indicating its high productivity under various climatic conditions. Protein content in the grain ranges from 9.7% to 12.9%, making this barley attractive for forage use. The variety shows low susceptibility to diseases such as powdery bunt, dark brown leaf spot, and stem rust, and is resistant to pests, including the Hessian fly. These characteristics contribute to reduced crop losses and decreased costs for plant protection. CHERIO was developed and originally presented by the Carlsberg Research Laboratory (Denmark). The variety has been included in the State Register since 2014 and has undergone successful testing in various regions, confirming its adaptability and reliability. Due to its qualities, CHERIO is an optimal choice for agricultural producers focused on obtaining high-quality barley grain with good agronomic indicators.
