Description EIFEL
The EIFEL spring barley variety is a medium-early two-row barley bred by French breeders SECOBRA Recherches. The vegetation period is 70-80 days, ensuring ripening simultaneously with the Xanadu variety. Plants have medium or high height, an intermediate bush type, and are resistant to lodging and root sprouting. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 44 to 55 grams, with large grains that contribute to high potential yield, reaching up to 93.5 c/ha under favorable conditions. The sowing rate is 350-450 pieces per square meter depending on sowing dates and weather conditions.

The EIFEL variety is characterized by high resistance to many diseases, including powdery mildew, net blotch, and especially fusarium head blight. At the same time, it is moderately resistant to powdery and stone scald, susceptible to helminthosporium, and has above-average resistance to rhynchosporium. To protect crops, grain treatment and one fungicide application are recommended, and two applications with growth regulators are advised under potentially high yields. The variety also demonstrates good drought resistance and stable yield in various climatic conditions.

EIFEL is intended for cultivation in various regions, including the Central Black Earth, Middle Volga, Ural, and Far East regions, and is recommended for the Belgorod, Lipetsk, Oryol, and Tambov regions. It is suitable for both brewing production due to low protein content and high extractivity, as well as for fodder use. For optimal growth and yield, nitrogen fertilizers are recommended at a rate of 30-40 kg/ha d.m. at sowing, as well as phosphorus and potassium depending on soil agrochemical indicators.
