The Poezia apple variety is an early-winter columnar variety developed at VNIISP K by free pollination between the SR0523 and Vazhak varieties. The trees are medium-sized, columnar, with smooth reddish-brown bark on the main branches. Shoots are thick, knotty, hairy, and covered with numerous small lenticels. Leaves are of medium size, elongated-oval, dark green, and glossy, with a wavy finely toothed edge. Flowers are small-petaled, pink, odorless, with fruiting concentrated on simple and compound ringed clusters. The variety is characterized by early fruiting, bearing fruit from the 2nd-3rd year after planting.
Poezia apple fruits are of medium weight, approximately 140-180 g, flattened, wide-ribbed, and tilted. The fruit skin is glossy; the main color is greenish-yellow, while the overlay color is a brownish-red blush that becomes intensely dark red during consumer maturity. The flesh is greenish, medium density, finely grainy, firm, and very juicy with a honey aroma. The taste is sour-sweet, confirmed by a tasting score of 4.3 points, and the appearance is rated at 4.4 points. Fruits are well preserved in the refrigerator until February, ensuring a long consumer period.
The Poezia variety is distinguished by high yields—up to 49 tons per hectare on the dwarf rootstock 62-396. It has good immunity against scab, which significantly eases care and increases the marketability of fruits. The apple tree is resistant to rust, powdery mildew, and spotting, and withstands pests such as spider mites, aphids, flea beetles, and codling moths. Due to its decorative qualities, compact columnar form, and high transportability, the Poezia variety is ideal for super-intensive orchards and commercial cultivation.
