The «Источник» soft winter wheat variety, developed by SCFNAC, is the result of targeted breeding focused on stability in intensive farming conditions. The thousand-kernel weight (TKW) ranges from 40 to 45 grams, ensuring high ear fill and excellent drillability. A key mechanical characteristic of this variety is its superior lodging resistance, which is critical when applying high nitrogen fertilizer rates, preventing harvest losses even in high-moisture conditions.

Genetic-Level Phytosanitary Protection

«Источник» demonstrates strong resistance to a core complex of pathogens that traditionally affect crops. Genetic immunity against wheat leaf rust and septoria allows for the optimization of fungicide applications, thereby reducing the pesticide load on the agrocenosis. Furthermore, the variety shows high resistance to common bunt and Mycosphaerella leaf blotch, which helps prevent root and stem rot development during critical growth phases.

Agronomic Implementation and Breeding Heritage

The variety was developed by a team of leading breeders at the North Caucasus Federal Scientific Agrarian Center, led by Viktor Ivanovich Kovtun, Alesya Alexandrovna Sukhareva, and Lyudmila Nikolaevna Kovtun. The resistance profile includes defense against powdery mildew and various leaf spots, making «Источник» a reliable tool for farmers aiming for consistent yields.
