Wheat Ros

The Heritage of Bila Tserkva Breeding

The winter wheat variety "Ros" is a time-tested classic of Ukrainian breeding, developed by the specialists at the Bila Tserkva Experimental Breeding Station named after O.K. Kolomiyets. This variety was designed to meet the needs of farmers for a crop that combines adaptability to the climatic risks of Central Ukraine and the Forest-Steppe zone with reliable yield potential.

Agronomic Profile

"Ros" belongs to the intensive type of wheat varieties, requiring precise agricultural practices to achieve its full potential. The breeding focus is on developing robust stem structure and grain quality. Due to its balanced genetic architecture, this variety demonstrates resilience against a number of pathogens characteristic of Ukrainian soils, making it a strategic tool in the crop rotation for farms prioritizing stability.

Market Positioning

Currently, this variety occupies the niche of a dependable "workhorse." It is favored by farmers who prefer established local breeding adapted to specific soil and climatic conditions, avoiding the risks sometimes associated with imported hybrids. "Ros" remains in demand due to its combination of plasticity and agronomic predictability, which is crucial for planning commercial grain volumes.
