A 2025 Breeding Breakthrough

"Nadiya Odeska" is the result of years of research by the Selektsiino-henetychnyi instytut (National Center for Seed Science and Variety Testing), officially registered in the State Register of Ukraine in 2025. Developed through complex breeding methods, this winter wheat variety addresses modern climatic challenges, demonstrating high adaptability across the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya regions.

Agronomic Profile

The plant exhibits strong resilience and balanced morphological traits. Its erect growth habit, combined with a heavy waxy bloom on the upper internode and flag leaf, provides effective protection against temperature fluctuations and moisture loss. The early heading stage allows the variety to efficiently utilize spring moisture reserves, which is critical for southern cultivation zones.

Morphology and Grain Quality

• Ear: Pyramidal shape, medium density, with long awns, giving it a distinct appearance.
• Grain: Large, red-colored, with an optimal length-to-width ratio.
• Straw: Medium length, ensuring resistance to lodging under intensive cultivation technologies.

"Nadiya Odeska" is designed for high-quality grain production. The absence of anthocyanin coloration in the coleoptile and specific glume characteristics highlight the purity of the genetic material developed by the institute's breeders.
