Sorghum Radar Station 1601 R

Working with RAGT Grain Sorghum

When it comes to securing a stable yield on challenging, arid soils, the choice of seed is the deciding factor. The RLS 1601 R from French breeder RAGT is a prime example of where grain quality expectations meet on-field reality.

Vegetation and Harvesting Insights

The main issue with many sorghum varieties is excessive height, which complicates combine operation and increases harvesting losses. Working with the RLS 1601 R is much simpler: the plant height ranges from 70 to 90 cm. It is a compact, short-stature plant that stands vertically and resists lodging even in high winds. The light-brown grain ripens uniformly, which is critical for combine header and threshing settings, keeping grain breakage to a bare minimum.

Operational Efficiency

• Uniform Emergence: High germination energy shortens the window from planting to canopy closure, which indirectly lowers weed control costs.
• Stress Tolerance: Under moisture deficit conditions, this hybrid shows superior resilience compared to more demanding crop varieties.
• Maintenance Benefits: Due to the uniformity of the crop, combine operators report lower load on separation units, directly impacting fuel consumption and field coverage speed.

For grain-focused farming operations, the RLS 1601 R addresses the need for consistency. It is a solid, reliable choice for those who prioritize technology and simplicity in their field operations.
