Wheat Memory of Horlach

Stability as a Strategy: The "Pamyati Horlacha" Advantage

Developed by the Bila Tserkva Research Station, the "Pamyati Horlacha" wheat is a prime example of breeding focused on climate resilience in the forest-steppe zones. This soft, awnless winter wheat variety is favored by agronomists who prioritize consistent performance under fluctuating weather conditions.

Agronomic Profile

• Growth Type: Winter wheat.
• Morphology: Awnless ear, simplifying the threshing process and reducing mechanical harvest losses.
• Genetics: Ukrainian breeding, well-adapted to soils with varying levels of fertility.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The core strength of this variety lies in its environmental plasticity. It shows impressive winter hardiness and excellent spring recovery rates. Unlike many high-intensity foreign hybrids, "Pamyati Horlacha" is less reliant on rigid, costly fungicide schedules, allowing producers to manage plant protection costs more effectively without sacrificing yield quality.

However, it is crucial to note that the variety's genetic potential is best realized through proper crop rotation. On nutrient-depleted soils, it requires balanced mineral fertilization to maintain high milling quality. This makes it an ideal choice for farms looking for a reliable, "workhorse" variety capable of delivering stable yields across large acreages, effectively hedging against the risks associated with extreme weather anomalies.
