Maize Meteor 317 MV

Genetic Architecture and Field Performance

The «Meteor 317 MV» is a simple corn hybrid developed by the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the NAS of Ukraine. Designed for high-yield scenarios, the hybrid falls into the FAO 90–1240 group. With a maturity range of 120–140 days, it is engineered to capitalize on full-season growing conditions, translating solar energy into high-density biomass and grain volume.

Resilience and Pathogen Defense

A core technical advantage of Meteor 317 MV is its robust field immunity. The hybrid's genetic profile is specifically calibrated to withstand common fungal threats that typically cause yield degradation:

• Head Smut Resistance: Effectively prevents systemic infection.
• Common Smut Resistance: Minimizes physical damage to the stalks.
• Fusarium Resistance: Critical for maintaining grain health and reducing mycotoxin contamination, which is essential for both human and animal feed safety.

Operational Utility

The dent-type grain structure is a critical design feature for moisture management; it allows for efficient dry-down, reducing post-harvest handling costs. The hybrid offers significant operational flexibility as it is dual-purpose: optimized for high-quality grain production while maintaining the biological volume required for nutrient-dense silage. For modern agricultural enterprises, this versatility acts as a hedging mechanism, allowing for strategic redirection of the crop based on seasonal harvest objectives and market demand for silage versus grain commodities.
