Mavka IR

Winter wheat Mavka IR is an early-maturing, intensive-type variety developed by the Institute of Plant Protection named after V.Ya. Yuryev of NAAN and included in the State Register of Varieties of Ukraine in 2021. This variety belongs to the erythrospermum type and is characterized by a short stem of about 86 cm in height and a vegetation period of approximately 257 days. Mavka IR exhibits enhanced winter hardiness (7 points) and high drought resistance, making it especially valuable for cultivation in steppe, forest-steppe, and forested regions of Ukraine.

The variety shows resistance to major pests such as the cereal leaf beetle and the cutworm, as well as tolerance to major diseases under field conditions. The grain quality meets the requirements of premium wheat, confirmed by an average 1000-grain weight of about 41.3 g. The potential yield of this variety reaches 12.0 t/ha, making it one of the most productive among early cereal crops in Ukraine.

Mavka IR demonstrates high adaptability to adverse weather conditions, including prolonged heat and water deficit, while maintaining high yield and improved grain quality. The variety is recommended for cultivation using modern agronomic practices, which enable full realization of its potential and ensure stable high yields across various regions of the country.
